Blogging in Boxers is not about literally blogging in boxers. It is about how blogging is providing people with the opportunity to write and publish from the comforts of their homes, cafes, parks, schools, airports, among others. It is also about how blogging is allowing people to earn on the side– or even a full time and profitable endeavor for some.
My name is Dominic Rivera. In my younger years, I worked as an analyst for a securities firm, research editor for one of the major dailies in Manila (until a corrupt president forced us all out by buying the newspaper company), web editor of an online newspaper, and technical head for an Internet service provider (though I can assure you that I am not a techie at all).
Coming from a publishing background, there is always this hope that one day we can all be publishers. Blogging made it easier. In 2006, I published one of the major news blogs. It was eventually acquired less than a year after it went online.
It was also in the same year when I was awarded, among millions of people around the world (yes, including You), with the Times Person of the Year.
In May 2007, I was pink-slipped for the first time in my life after working as development director for a film and acting studio in New York City. I was devastated. Who wouldn’t? I have two kids and a lovely wife and they did not deserve the situation that I was in.
The morning after, I started “blogging in boxers.”
