When I first started blogging in November of 2005, I always doubted if there is really someone out there reading my posts. The first stream of comments assured me that I’ve tricked someone other than my wife to read my blog. But, wanting to know more, I started to look at the control panel of my web host. It showed me the number of visitors, the hits, the number of pageviews, and a whole lot of other tracking goodies. I wanted more.
It became an addiction. Looking at the hard numbers overwhelmed me. I was not even interpreting it, just wanting to see if someone is online, at that moment, reading my blog. I just had to check the stats, as often as possible.
If you’re a new blogger and you have the same itch, don’t worry. According to Problogger, “you’re not alone and you’re perfectly normal” and “you’ll grow out of it.”
I did… without the need to attend Stats Anonymous.
